Bolcho AI has launched a voice AI platform designed specifically for Indian businesses, addressing gaps in existing Western-built voice agents that struggle with local languages and accents.

The platform allows businesses to build and deploy multilingual AI phone and web agents with native support for Indian languages, according to the company. Unlike generic voice AI platforms, Bolcho focuses on regional requirements including code-switching between Hindi and English mid-conversation.

Technical flexibility drives adoption

The platform offers bring-your-own integration for LLMs, speech-to-text, and text-to-speech providers. This approach contrasts with most voice AI platforms that lock users into single technology stacks.

Bolcho targets use cases including sales automation, customer support, appointment booking, and customer engagement across sectors like healthcare, education, and government services.

Founder Kumar Ajay said the company built the platform after noticing that voice AI improvements hadn't translated to better support for Indian languages and telephony complexity. "Most platforms are still built with a Western-first approach," he said in a Product Hunt discussion.

Addressing technical challenges

The platform tackles specific problems that have caused voice AI pilots to fail in Indian markets. These include handling regional accents, managing code-switching between languages, and maintaining accuracy for critical information like payment numbers and order IDs.

One technical challenge the platform addresses is digit recognition across language boundaries, where numbers might be spoken in English within regional language sentences. The system allows agents to validate captured information against business databases mid-call rather than relying solely on speech recognition confidence scores.

Bolcho claims to support all Indian languages, though the company hasn't specified the exact number or provided performance benchmarks for different regional dialects.

The platform launched two months ago and is available through bolchoai.in. The company hasn't disclosed funding details or customer numbers.
