How the game works

Each round puts two AI companies side by side and reveals what the first one raised. You call whether the second raised more or less, the answer shows immediately, and a correct call extends your streak. The pool is drawn from published startups with at least $5 million in disclosed funding, fetched twelve at a time in random order, so no two sessions play the same sequence. Names, logos, categories, and totals all come from the NeuronFeed database rather than a hand-written question set, which means the game updates itself as new rounds are recorded.

Funding figures count disclosed rounds only. Companies that never announced terms, took on debt, or were acquired before disclosing will look smaller than they were, and a round closed after the most recent database refresh will not be reflected yet — part of why some pairings are genuinely hard. Streaks live in the page and reset on reload; there is no account, leaderboard, or score submission. Beyond being a distraction, it is a decent way to calibrate intuition about the AI market: a few dozen rounds tends to expose how noisy most people's sense of which categories attract the biggest cheques really is.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the funding data in the game come from?

Every figure is pulled live from the NeuronFeed startup database, the same records behind the directory listings. Totals reflect disclosed funding only — rounds where no amount was announced are not counted, so a company that raised quietly can appear smaller than it is. Nothing in the game is invented or rounded for effect.

Which startups can appear in a round?

Any published company in the directory with at least $5 million in disclosed total funding. The game requests twelve at random per batch and refills as you play, so the sequence differs every session and is not a fixed quiz.

How is total funding calculated?

It is the sum of all disclosed rounds for a company, in US dollars, across seed through late stage. Debt facilities and undisclosed amounts are excluded, and figures are displayed rounded — millions below $1B, one decimal of a billion above it. A round closed after the last database refresh will not be reflected yet.

What happens if both startups raised the same amount?

A tie is scored as correct whichever way you guessed, so it never breaks a streak. This mostly comes up with round headline numbers such as two companies both showing $100M.

Is my streak saved?

No. The current and best streak are tracked in the page only and reset when you reload or press Restart. There is no account, no leaderboard, and no score submission.

Is the Founder Game free to play?

Yes — free, unlimited, and no signup. Like the rest of the NeuronFeed tools it runs entirely on public directory data.
